The Vipassana Research Institute offers the following residential courses for the year 2010,  for those interested in studying Pali. 

1. Basic Pali - English,  Intensive Study Programme

Course duration is of 3 months. It will be conducted from 18 May to 18 August 2010. (Western students are required to come on student visa only).

2. Basic Pali - Hindi, Intensive Study Programme

This course is for one month duration. It will be conducted from 1 May to 30 May 2010. (Students are required to come to Dhamma Giri by 29 April 2010.) Criteria is the same as for the English courses  . The teaching medium will be Hindi.  A good working knowledge of Hindi is essential for this course.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements for admission

• They must have completed atleast three 10-day Vipassana courses and one Satipatthana course. They should be observing the five precepts and practising Vipassana regularly since last one year. There must be a commitment to Vipassana as taught by SN Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin.
   
  
• They should have a good working knowledge of English or Hindi for the Hindi course as applicable.
   
  

• Applicants will be required to attend all class and meditation periods.

   

Separate accomodations are generally provided for the students. These courses are offered on a Dana basis. There are no fixed charges for tuition, accomodation etc. Participants may make donation for the benefit of others.

The progress of the students will be reviewed periodically. Students intending to join the course are required to fill in the relevant application form and send it along with recommendation from their Area Vipassana Teacher or any Senior Assitant Teacher to the following e-mail address.
