Vipassana Centers
Area East includes the provinces of Castellón, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia and Albacete, but do not correspond to the same community. Their mutual proximity makes them a compact core and a good place for people to come to meditate together. Located in a protected natural landscape of great beauty and surrounded by the magical and captivating energy of Sierra Calderona, the Bethany Hostel is a natural balcony over the Mediterranean Sea, from which you can see much of the Gulf of Valencia. The nearby village Segart is near to Sagunto and lies only 20 km away from Valencia. The climatic environment is typically Mediterranean, as its altitude and being about ten miles from the sea, makes the tempaerature very pleasant and mild. Also, for students who have completed a ten-day course, intensive four-hour group meditations are held in Valencia and Denia (Alicante) one Sunday a month. Also, for old students, there are also weekly meditation sessions in Valencia and Denia for which no registration is required.
The Ghana Dhamma Practitioners Foundation organizes non-center Vipassana Meditation courses in different locations around Ghana. We usually offer one 10-day course per year as well as 1-day refresher courses for old students (those who have already taken the ten day course).
The Hong Kong Vipassana Meditation Center (HKVMC) is located in the quiet village of Hang Tau in Sheung Shui. The center was built on a 7,000 square foot farmland. The site comprises a meditation hall, separate living quarters for male and female (complete with toilet and bathing facilities), as well as an office and living quarters for volunteers. The meditation hall and all living quarters are fitted with air conditioners and can accommodate about 50 students.
Courses in Klaten are held at Wisma Dhamma Guna. Klaten is located 25 km from Jogjakarta. The site has a cool climate - the temperature around 23 C at night time and 29 C at day time. The site can accomdate 60 students.
This hired course site is surrounded by tropical gardens, a vegetable farm and green fields. It is used regularly for up to 40 students. The main lodge of the farm property is used for female students and has several shared dorms. Another building is used for male students. The main hall is air-conditioned.
