ADMISSION PROCESSES for Online Diploma in Buddhist Studies & Vipassana

Admission PROCESS:

 

Online Diploma in Buddhist Studies & Vipassana

Academic Year 2025–26

Offered by: Vipassana Research Institute (VRI)

In collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, University of Mumbai

 

Eligibility:

 

Applicants must have completed at least one 10-day Vipassana meditation course.

 

Documents Required for Upload before you begin:

 

Please ensure the following items are saved in JPEG format on your device for uploading during the application process:

  • Passport-size photo (10 KB – 500 KB)

  • Digital signature (10 KB – 500 KB)

  • Educational certificates (SSC & HSC or equivalent; 10 KB – 500 KB)

 

Two-Step Application Process:

 

Step 1: Pre-Application Form (by VRI):

Begin by verifying your eligibility (at least one 10-day Vipassana meditation course + education):

Fill the VRI Pre-Application Form

If deemed eligible, further instructions including the university application link will be provided within this form. Please begin with this step.

 

Step 2: Main Application Form (by University of Mumbai) :

Submit your official application via the Philosophy Department’s portal:

Step-by-Step Guide for the Main Application Form:

University of Mumbai Portal:

 

1) Registration :

 

  • Visit: muugadmission.samarth.edu.in

  • Click on New Registration

  • Enter details and complete the registration form

  • Verify via OTP (check spam folders if needed)

  • Create and save your password securely

2) Application Submission:

 

  • Log in with your credentials

  • Select the following program details:

    • Programme Level: Diploma Programmes

    • Programme Name: Diploma in Buddhist Studies & Vipassana

    • Institute Code: MU-338 | Department of Philosophy, Kalina Campus, Mumbai

    • Preference: First Preference

  • Enter personal, other and academic details

  • Upload required documents

  • Preview your form, verify via declaration checkbox, and Submit

 

Note: Admissions are subject to verification of documents and are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

3) Fee Payment (post-approval):

 

After receiving the approval email from the University:

  • Log in again to the UoM Portal

  • Login again with your same User ID & Password (Created when you had filled the application form)

  • - it will take you to home page

  • - scroll down and it will show a table with the title ‘Programme Applications’.

  • - You can see the form status as 'Admission Payment,' & Action 'Pay Admission Fee' option.

  • - Next appears Transaction table with Total Fee Amount. click on 'Payment Gateway PAYGOV- LIVE' at the bottom.

  • - Next appears NSDL - Sure Pay - page with Payment Mode-Net Banking & Transaction details.

  • Choose preferred mode (Net Banking, Debit Card, UPI, Credit Card, Wallet)

  • After successful payment:

    • Download your Fee Receipt and Application Form

    • You’ll be added to the official WhatsApp group of the course (shortly before the first session) via VRI’s registered mobile number.
