Discourses on Satipatthana Sutta

₹130.00

Mahasatipatthana sutta, the Great Discourse on establishing awareness, is one of the most important discourses expounded by the Buddha in the town called Kammasadhamma in Kuru kingdom. In this sutta, the Buddha presented a practical method for developing self-knowledge by means of kāyānupassanā (constant observation of the body), vedanānupassanā (constant observation of sensations), cittānupassanā (constant observation of the mind), and dhammānupassanā (constant observation of the contents of the mind).

Since 1981, 8-day Satipatthana Sutta courses are being conducted for Vipassana students, who have completed at least three 10-day courses, in order to enable them to work directly with the Buddha’s words. The time table and discipline of this course is the same as that of a 10-day course, but the participants can study the sutta in the break periods and Mr. Goenka’s evening discourses explain the Mahasatipatthana in detail.

This book contains a condensed version of the daily evening discourses given by Mr. Goenka during this course. This book is intended as a companion volume to the Mahasatipatthana sutta.

This book is ideal for students of Vipassana meditation and research scholars interested in the teachings of the Buddha.
