We are enrolling only those who have done at least one 10-day meditation course.


Dear Applicant,

We are happy to inform you that the Vipassana Research Institute (VRI) in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy – Mumbai University is inviting applications for the following online course.


Online Advanced Diploma in Buddhist Studies & Vipassana (Theory & Practice) – 2024-25

Eligibility for admission to this course is -

Must have passed the Diploma or Online Diploma in Buddhist Studies & Vipassana (Theory & Practice) from university of Mumbai, Philosophy Dept. (Any passing year)


No need to register If you have University login id & password

You can directly login & fill remaining/your latest information (Online Diploma info & Cert.) & Submit the application.

The admission committee will approve your admission, subject to verification of all the required documents.

Note: Diploma Certificate - Since University has still not issued the Diploma Passing certificates (2023-24) but the result sheet of the Examination of Part-Time Diploma in Buddhist studies and Vipassana, kindly find your roll number & name in result sheet, underline full row to your name in the result sheet and Upload the full page of Result sheet (with Stamp) under Upload document.

Size of the image of that page with your name underlined must be less than 200kb. Please keep the document in (jpeg format) ready for upload while registering and applying for the admission:


Process for Students who already are registered with Mumbai University

  1. Click on the link https://parttimecourses.mu.ac.in/

  2. Log in to the portal with your Registered Email id with Mumbai University as (User name) and password used earlier.

  3. Once login in Click on the Admission Button.

  4. Under Department select – PHILOSOPHY

  5. Under Course select - Advance Diploma Course in Buddhist Studies & Vipassana (Theory and Practice)

  6. Under Batch select – Batch 2024-25

  7. Scroll down below and click Confirm Button.

  8. Your Profile will be displayed, Check and Update the details if necessary.

  9. Scroll down below and click Next Button.

  10. You need to update the Education Details, Click on Add Button.

  11. A window will be opened. Fill the details.

  12. E.g. - Exam: Diploma, Board/University: Mumbai University, Seat No: Your Seat No (e.g. - 120), Marks Obtained: Your marks, Total Marks: 250, Passing Month and Year:2024

  13. Click on save Button

  14. Once saved your details will be shown in the Education Details Box

  15. Click on Next Button.

  16. Now Upload Documents (Size of document must be less than 200 kb.)

  17. Under Upload Select Certificate and choose file to upload (Image of your result sheet – underlined – from your roll no to Pass statuse)

  18. Click on Next Button & Submit the application

(It might go on admission Tab again - Kindly select Dept. (Philosophy), Course, Batch & click on next on every tab until Fee structure page, then Click on - Confirm.)

- Then under Admission tab - in Forms Filled table, you can see the status of same course admission 'Processing'


For those who haven’t registered on the university website for any course yet.

Please keep Ready & Save the soft copies of following documents first in your Device in order to upload them while registering and applying for the admissions on the Mumbai University Portal:

For filing form you need jpeg format of following documents

  • Photo - 50 kb (latest passport size/visa/id photo only)

  • Digital Signature - 20kb

  • if there is any change in your name then Must Need - Marriage Certificate/Government Gazette - 50 KB,

  • ID Card - 100 kb - Aadhaar or Passport Copy (Must Both Page of ID)

  • Educational Certificate / Mark Sheet - 200 kb (Old SSC, HSC(12th), Graduation, Post-Graduation & Diploma Certificate (Buddhist studies Vipassana theory & practice))

Admission Process in details:-

(Online Registration on the website of Mumbai University, philosophy dept.)

1st Step – Registration - Register yourself on the portal with following steps.

Please note: After clicking this link, you will be directed to the admission page on the UOM website. Kindly come back to this page again, read all further instructions, SUBMIT this pre-application form first, and then fill out the main university Admission form.

-> Click the link - https://parttimecourses.mu.ac.in/

-> Click on word Register - (See screenshot below)

-> Fill the 'New Registration' details & click on 'Register' at the bottom

-> Email Verification - Input the OTP received on your email id. (Check spam folder)

-> Create Password - (kindly save or note the created password)

(Kindly Note - No need for registration process, if you already have login ID & password as you are an old student of Philo dept. or any other dept. Of Mumbai University.)


2nd Step - Admission - Login, Filling details & uploading documents (See screenshot below)

-> Login in with the your email & created password

-> Now following details will appear. Read carefully & follow the same.

-> Click on the word 'Admission' at the bottom

- Select Department - PHILOSOPHY

- Select Course – Advanced Diploma in Buddhist Studies & Vipassana (Theory & Practice) course

- Select Batch - Batch 2024-25

Read the course information and then click on - Confirm


- It'll go on ‘Profile’ tab - fill remaining details in Profile Update & then Upload Photo, Sign & Marriage Certificate/Government Gazette if any changes in your name (check Size) & then click on Update.

- It'll go on next 'Education Details’ tab - Click on 'Add' (Kindly enter your educational details one by one accordingly your total educations e.g. - HSC (compulsory), Graduation, Post-graduation etc. (as per mark sheet) then click 'Next'

- It'll go on ‘Upload Documents’ tab - Upload your ID card (full Both side Adhar/ PAN, Passport (Mandatory for Foreign Students), one by one Educational Certificates/ Mark sheets - HSC (compulsory), Graduation, Post-graduation etc. (check Size). Click 'Next' after done.

(Kindly clear the cache & your browsing history if any problem in correct sized documents are not uploading, also check your device updates Application update as well)

- Then the table of Fee Structure will open. Click on small check box under the fees structure table - read & kindly check all details once again & then click on Submit.

(It might go on admission Tab again - Kindly select Dept. (Philosophy), Course, Batch & click on next on every tab until Fee structure page, then Click on - Confirm.)

- Then under Admission tab - in Forms Filled table, you can see the status of same course admission 'Processing'


KINDLY NOTE - The admissions committee of VRI & University of Mumbai will approve your admission subject to verification of all the required documents. It might take some days.

As the seats are limited, the admissions will be on the first come first served basis.


Steps to Pay the Fees

(After approval in mail by University)

- You will receive Approval mail (Sub-UoM Admission - Part-time portal) if eligibility, all details & documents are ok.

- Click on this link https://parttimecourses.mu.ac.in/

- Login again with your same User ID & Password (Created when you had filled the application form)

- Click on - Admission tab or on Home page at the bottom.

- It will show a table with the title ‘Forms Filled’.

- You can see the form status as 'Approved' & the 'Pay Fee' option in last Colum under Form. Click on Pay Fees.

- Next appears Transaction table with Tot Fee Amount. Click on 'Pay Fees' at the bottom.

- Next appears NSDL - Sure Pay - page with Payment Mode-Net Banking & Transaction details.

- Select bank if you are paying by Net banking, & continue for the process, if you are using this payment method. {Kindly note - There will be Extra Transaction Fees [Incl. - GST] ₹11.8 (for Net Banking & Wallet)}

- You can select any Payment Modes (Net banking, Debit Card, Wallet, UPI, Credit card) from side bar on the left hand side in PC/Laptop OR at the bottom if you are using mobile.

Use your UPI ID of G-Pay, Phone pay or any Pay app, if you are using UPI Mode then just continue payment option & pay the fees from UPI App.

After payment you can see & download the 'Fee Receipt' & your 'Application Form' from the same table. After that you will be official student of diploma course in Buddhist Studies Vipassana Theory & Practice. Then soon (1 or 2 Days Before the 1st Session) you will be added in official WhatApp Group for the same course from VRI's Official Mobile No.
